ZION, IL– A Safe Place is proud to name Patricia (Pat) Davenport as our new Executive Director.
 
Pat joins A Safe Place with over 20 years of nonprofit management experience, most recently with Families and Schools Together (FAST) in Madison, Wisconsin. FAST designs and distributes family strengthening and parent involvement programs to help kids succeed in school and in life. In addition to other goals, FAST programs work towards the prevention of domestic violence, a key to the mission of A Safe Place.
 
Pat has experience with budgeting and fiscal management, strategic planning and implementation, fundraising, operations management, program evaluation, community collaboration, strategic board development and network building. In addition, Pat is bilingual and will be instrumental in enhancing A Safe Place’s services to Lake County’s Latino community.
 
“Following an extensive executive search, the Board believes strongly that we have taken a significant step in positioning A Safe Place to become an even more dynamic and influential organization,” noted Board President David Hesselbein. “We are very excited about Pat joining A Safe Place on July 2, and are looking forward to building even stronger, more effective services and support for the families to whom we commit our services. We look forward to the agency’s future under Pat’s leadership.”

A Safe Place provides emergency shelter; supportive and transitional housing; a 24-hour help line (847-249-4450); court and non-legal advocacy; individual, group, and children’s counseling; family visitation services; batterer intervention services; and community outreach, prevention education, and professional training. Our service area includes Lake, McHenry, and northern Cook counties in Illinois; however, our clients come to us from across the state, region, and country. A Safe Place serves 2,500 adult and children victims of domestic violence each year, helping them as they transform their lives after domestic violence.
