Great Highwood Pumpkin Fest to be Subject of HGTV's New Show, "Pumpkin Wars"

Chicago's North Shore community of Highwood is being put on the map once again...and this time it's not only for breaking the Guinness World Record for most jack-o-lanterns lit at once, or being an answer on Jeopardy!

Highwood is proud to announce that their biggest festival, The Great Pumpkin Fest 2012 (October 18-20), will be the subject of a new show on HGTV this fall called "Pumpkin Wars"! Debuting on October 31st at 7 pm CST, Highwood will be the focus of this one hour HGTV special. Viewers will see as Highwood competes with Keene, NH to make pumpkin history once again!

Just announced today, Pumpkin Wars will bring HGTV's Property Brother, Jonathan, to Highwood to film, participate and report on Highwood's great family friendly, record breaking festival. And this year is sure to be a hit with three Guinness World Record attempts being conquered.

From HGTV's Press Release

HGTV’s Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, hit the road to help residents in Highwood, Ill. and Keene, N.H. squash world records and make pumpkin history. During the one-hour special, each town attempts to set a new “lit-pumpkin” record by lighting more than 32,000 jack-o-lanterns in one location; surpass the highest number of people simultaneously carving pumpkins (the current record is 965 participants); and win the title of “longest line of pumpkin pies” by lining up more than 800 of the seasonal dessert. In addition, each community will feature pumpkin bowling, costume contests and a “land regatta” where townspeople race 200-300 pound pumpkins on a 150-yard course.

Please save the dates and head out to the Great Highwood Pumpkin Fest, from October 18-20!
