North Shore Art League 2012 Members' Show: A Celebration of Art, Flowers, Music & More
The 88th Annual North Shore Art League Members’ Show, featuring Art-in-Bloom, runs from September 7-15 this year, with hours 10:00 am -3:00 pm daily and Noon -3:00 pm weekends, with special extended hours on Thursday evening, September 13, 6:00-8:00 pm. The North Shore Art League (NSAL) considers this 9-day exhibition its major event and benefit of the year. This stellar art display showcases the work of our member artists and NSAL faculty whose talents and support have sustained the organization for over eight decades. A new feature of this year's exhibit will be the Youth Members' Show, a display of artwork by NSAL students ages 5-17 enrolled in 2011-2012 classes.
On Friday evening, September 7th, the exhibition will launch with the Members’ Show Artists' Opening Reception and Benefit Party from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. Cost is $60/person in advance, $70/person at the door. Be the first to preview the outstanding fine art in our gallery space on the second floor of the Winnetka Community House, and be amazed by floral interpretations of selected artwork, Art-in-Bloom, by renowned local garden club arrangers and florists in Room 211. Enjoy a fabulous light supper and open bar, and peruse the many silent auction tables. Highlights of our Silent Auction include sports, theater and symphony tickets, a Chicago architectural tour, gift certificates from local businesses, and quality art-related items.
The Feinberg Trio will perform classical music during the opening reception. The trio is composed of Andres Camacho, violin, Paul Jansson, cello, and Jessica Shim, piano; all are second year medical students at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. They regularly perform at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and for various events at the medical school and in the community. The benefit concert is generously underwritten by Kurt Saphir Pianos, Alan and Jennifer Swain, and the Foradas, Poland and de Bontin families.
The Winnetka Community House, where the NSAL has its studios and offices, is located at 620 Lincoln Avenue, Winnetka. Proceeds will be dedicated to funding NSAL operations and annual scholarship programs recognizing the achievements of area high school art students.
