In support of the thriving community of artists living and working in the area, the North Suburban YMCA recently announced plans for an in-house Community Gallery to showcase works by local artists. The inaugural show will feature paintings by Northbrook resident Terry Luc, with an opening night reception scheduled for January 17 at 7:00 pm. The show will be on display until February 3 at the Y, located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook.

In preparation for this exhibit and future shows, the Y’s Visual Arts Department is establishing a Community Gallery Committee to select artists and organize related events. “Our committee is open to anyone who has an interest in art and the community,” commented Cathie Winnie, the Y’s Visual Arts Director. “This will be a great opportunity to work with local artists and participate in stimulating social events. Since this is such a new experiment, the committee will have a great impact on developing our Community Gallery for the future.”
