A short-term construction project with the potential to cause delays on Deerfield Road between Rosemary Terrace and the Highland Park line starts at 7 a.m. today, according to Deerfield Chief Project Engineer John Guccione.
Guccione does not expect the effort to last longer than the end of the week but traffic on much of Deerfield Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction until the work’s duration. Rosemary is one block east of Waukegan Road.
“At one time, two lanes of traffic on one side of the street will be closed while we do the work,” Guccione said. “Then we’ll do the other side. We’ll be directing people around the work. The project is maintenance and patching.”

I thought there was supposed to be a complete rebuild of Deerfield road next Spring? Has that changed? Otherwise, why repair a road and then tear up the repairs next year. There are much worse roads that could use some patching and are not scheduled for demolition in less than a year. Sure, a pothole to patch here and there but this extensive amount of work?
