Deerfield Woman Remains in Jail Without Bond

Father Pfleger calls Lidia Kuzniar, who is accused of stalking him, mentally ill.

A Deerfield woman charged with two felony counts of stalking Chicago priest Michael Pfleger remains in Cook County Jail after the judge took no action on her bail status at a hearing Monday in Cook County Criminal Court in Chicago.

Lidia Kuzniar of Deerfield, who faces up to eight years in prison if convicted on both counts, appeared at a status hearing Monday where the judge made no change to a Nov. 20 order denying her bail, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesperson Andy Conklin.

Kuzniar will next appear in court at 9 a.m. Jan. 4 for a preliminary hearing. At that time, a judge could determine whether there is probable cause to continue to hold the defendant for trial, according to Conklin.

Meanwhile, Pfleger told CBS Chicago news Monday he believes Kuzniar is mentally ill. According to the report, Pfleger asked two members of St. Sabina Church who are psychologists to talk to her. “They, along with the police, both said this is now out of control and it could be very violent to herself or somebody else,” he said to CBS.

The nationally known priest at Chicago’s St. Sabina Church on the south side described how Kuzniar would refuse to leave the church. “We’d try to close the office at the end of the night and she’d (go) limp on the floor and said she wasn’t moving,” Pfleger said to CBS.

Eight years in prison! Just for wanting to marry someone? She does look a little "mentally ill". She's still begging for his love even in her mug shot. Maybe she just needs a big hug father.

If she did marry him, it would've been a life sentence, so she got off easy.

Good point Steve, good point. Now I watch a lot of "court TV", and I can tell if someone's guilty just by lookin at them. She's so "Not Guilty" in the court of Moe. Look at her, you made her cry, and she looks like she's saying " I promise, I'll never do it again as long as you let me out of this police station". I believe her yo, I don't know why, but I do.
