Dold Outraises Schneider by $135,396

Intensity increases in race for 10th District seat.

Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) outraised his Democratic opponent, Brad Schneider of Deerfield, by $135,396 for the quarter ending June 30, according to releases from both campaigns.

Schneider, with $567,000 cash on hand for the Nov. 6 general election contest against Dold, currently has just over a quarter of the war chest Dold has accumulated since he was elected in 2010. The Congressman has $2.1 million in the bank.

Earlier: Schneider, Dold See Small Business Reducing Unemployment

For the quarter, Dold brought in $717,396 while Schneider raised $582,000, according to the news releases.

Since he stated his campaign, Schneider has accumulated $1,517,840 but had to spend heavily to win a contested four-way primary in March, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

Without a contested primary, Dold began his fundraising efforts shortly after his election and has taken in $2,934,913 for the current election cycle, according to FEC reports.

Both Schneider and Dold raised the bulk of their money locally. Statewide donors provided 82 percent of Dold’s funds and 80 percent of Schneider’s money, according to the separate news releases. Sixty five percent of Schneider’s haul came from first-time donors.

The campaign promises to be an expensive one. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and other Democratic leaning groups have committed $5.7 million to advertising in the Chicago market for three contested House races after Sept. 1.

Republican groups have yet to reserve television time in the Chicago market.

In addition to the 10th Congressional District, the DCCC has targeted the 8th and 11th Districts.

The disparity in cash I don't think will matter. The new map which leans Dem +6 will be enough to defeat Dold. Based on the new map Seales would of received almost 53% of the vote in 2010. The National Party will pump in plenty to make sure enough Dems know Dold voted almost 30 times to try and repeal the new health care bill while having NO plan of his/GOP own. Dold voting against equal pay for women and voting against additional funding for the VA for examples will doom him. Their is a high % of vets in the new district in the Northwest area who rely heavily on VA services. The race will be close but Dold loses Kenilworth and Winnetka voters who voted for him 7-1. Charlie Cook who is non partisan has Schneider winning by 54-46 and PPP has Schneider winning 53-46. One wild card that could hurt Dold is how the GOP turnout will be since knowing full and well Obama will win Illinois so many Republicans might stay home. Many people go to vote for President and just complete the ballpt as long as they are in the booth.

First off, I haven't seen those numbers your talking about Dan, do you think you could post a link?

And second, I disagree with you, Dan. Most people in the 10th district are fiscally conservative and socially moderate. If you take a look at the two candidates, Bob Dold and Brad Schneider, Dold fits the profile of being a fiscal conservative and a social moderate. He has a record and rankings from unbiased, nonpartisan organizations to back it up.

Brad Schneider is just too progressive for this district, and insists upon running and winning an election by portraying Dold as a Tea Party Extremist.

You said the disparity in cash don't matter, but how can Schneider run ads falsely claiming Bob Dold is a Tea Party extremist if he doesn't have the money?

Dold is part of the War on Women. He voted 3 out of 4 times against Planned Parenthood. He is a Joe Walsh who pretends to be a moderate. I saw the breakdown of the precincts, Dold is scared Sh#tless. He will be lucky to get 25% of the vote in the Island Lake area. It's so progressive with lots of veterans. Dan is right about The Cook Report, I just subscribed.

Oh, Scott, stop with the war on women garbage. One doesn't have to be 100% pro-choice and federal funding of all abortions and Planned Parenthood to be "pro-women". The whole war mantra is nonsense that will backfire.

Oh Sure...One really DOES have to be warring on women, though, when one attempts mandatory & medically NON-necessary vaginal probes for women seeking abortions like the dumbass governor of Virginia tried, not an attempt by to outlaw hormonal BIRTH Control, by the finest mind Fifth Century, Rick Santorum..Then of course, there's the awful Republican Issa, who held a hearing on the legitmacy of birth control coverage in the affordable care act with men ONLY, having the gall to turn away even the ONE woman his "committee" found worthy to join them...But no, of COURSE, there's no "Republican war on women, LOL.
Thank goodness, at least, that Santorum got sent back to the Dark Ages and Governor Probe had to rescind his law due to an ONSLAUGHT of protest by women in the congress and in his state. Obama is currently leading Romney by at least Ten points...Keep going, Repubs, we're loving it!

its one thing to believe women should have a choice and another to think the govt should pay for it. Don't confuse the issues.

Chris Miller

MS, you're entitled to your own opinion, but Dold's voting record shows the facts. Dold has a history of aligning with Tea Party against women’s issues.

In his first term, Dold has regularly voted the same as Tea Party Members of Congress in opposing women’s issues:

- Dold flip-flopped on last year’s controversial Republican Budget to join the Tea Party by voting to defund women’s health care after having voted for health care just the day before during a meaningless amendment vote (HR 1, Vote #147, 2/19/2011)

- Dold voted for a Tea Party bill which could have led to the IRS auditing women who sought gynecological medical advice (HR 3, Vote #292, 5/04/2011)

- That same bill also re-defined rape to make it more difficult for victims to seek medical care. Dold voted for it (HR 3, Vote #292, 5/04/2011)

- Dold voted against a moderate’s amendment clarifying that the federal government has no rights to access medical records of rape and incest victims (HR 3, Vote #291, 5/04/2011)

- On what became known as one of the GOP’s “Let Women Die” bills, Dold voted to let hospitals refuse life-saving health care to women and even restrict women’s right to use private insurance for their health care (HR 358, Vote #789, 10/13/2011)

- Dold voted against a motion specifying that health care providers were still required to provide care in an effort to prevent the death of pregnant women in emergencies (HR 358, Vote #788, 10/13/2011)

Those two issues have no relation whatsoever after saying each person gets a choice. It isn't your choice that is a problem to most of us. There is no chance of a woman's right to chose harming you, me, or the general public on the streets. No one can steal her right and use it as a tool against people. I'm sure very few concealed weapons become stolen, but it can happen. Don't compare two hot button issues that are entirely unrelated to try and make your point.

If you don't want abortions because you think it's murder, why carry a gun intended to prevent crime with the threat of death?

I understand what you are trying to say, but you are lumping everything together and it doesn't work that way. So many of the right want the govt to just go away...I'm sure an anarchistic America would work really really well. And again, freedom of choice sounds good from the soapbox but when your freedom of choice can directly/adversely effect the people around you that is a problem. A woman's choice doesn't concern you or your soul. Letting currently illegal drugs flood the market can effect others, arming everyone who wants a gun can effect everyone. There are differences.

The right loves to talk about nanny state and sheep and towing the line of the govt. You throw out super extremes to make yourselves sound like the only voice of reason. I lean very much to left on most issues...I'm not on welfare, I'm not sucking up govt funds, and I have no problem with some of the taxes I pay going to help the less fortunate. Of course their are leaches on the systems and that is wrong and should be addressed, but I have known too many people who have gotten back on their feet thanks to those programs to say they are bad.

Sorry Brian.....but Drugs only hurt those who take them, just like Abortion, and I should have the choice. Dems can not have it both ways, you can not say I should have the freedom to terminate an unborn child but not other freedoms. So it sounds to me like you are for abortions and not only abortions but the government should pay for them ( many taxpayers religious beliefs are against abortion) but when its comes to my other freedoms I am out of luck......

And Like I said above cutting off funding for PP is not cutting off your choices as a women. If you make irresponsible decisions then you should pay for it not me or the other tax payers. And yes I lump these all together because they are my personal choices and freedoms, guns don't kill people, people kill people. But Abortions do kill unborn babies....... and I still think a women should have that right to a choice. Even though that unborn baby does not.......

The real war is on Americans, women who are single mothers who lost their job, women who live in fear because their husband lost his job and then lose their house. This identity politics needs to stop as we are all Americans. I'm tired of liberals dividing us into groups and scoring political favor by division. We are all Americans, and all Americans are hurting from failed 1930s economic policy.

when Dold pledges his allegiance to Grover Norquist, he has made his bed, he no longer represents his constituents he is a foot solider to Norquist and the rest of the Teabaggers. He is no moderate he is no fiscal conservative. His corruption is just the type of "honorable" corruption that conservatives approve of. The 10th needs an independent that can vote to represent the PEOPLE of the 10th not an individual. To quote another poster, "Dold is Sold"

"Taxpayer Protection Pledge
I, _______________, pledge to the taxpayers of the _____ district

I remain fascinated how the Tea Party remains angry with Dold and his votes, and the Democrats falsely insist in claiming that Dold votes in lock step with the Tea Party. So if Dold votes "the party line" 82% of the time, May 87% and Garrett 85%, why do Democrats insist that May and Garrett are "independent Democrats" and Dold is a Puppet of the Tea Party? Talk about a double standard?

Louis, you keep mentioning his overall vote record and I keep clarifying that it is padding to appear moderate when they don't need his vote for a right wing agenda bill. He is voting to repeal healthcare for children up to age 26 on parents, no per existing conditions etc. today.
Gary, Norquist limits them to even getting rid of loopholes if it raises net revenue. Loopholes for BP a foreign number one or two revenue company and we let them pay lower taxes. No flexibility from Norquist and some Republicans are revolting from the pledge and willing to compromise for the country. Not Dold.

It was not a tax until the other day, its a tax penalty for not being responsible and buying health insurance, and it is small, a small price to pay for healthcare for everyone. Why do you like 'free riders' - those that show up at ER's clogging the system with a sore throat and never paying their bills? Doesn't sound very Republican to me, but to each his own. And the individual mandate? A Republican plan until Mr. Obama included it at their urging. Dold is no moderate.

Tom, the Tea Party endorsed Mr. Dold in 2010. His voting record becomes moderate if they don't need his vote, either a bill is already going to fail or it is winning by a wide margin so he gets to vote more in line with his District. Today, he is voting to repeal healthcare for children on parents policies up to age 26, the end to pre existing conditions, tort reform, insurance instead of free riders, etc.

There is your answer Tom B. RB refuses to face reality or facts. And by the way RB, the mandate was ALWAYS a tax. The Obama Administration and Nancy Pelosi lied about it, called it a "fee" and then argued before the U.S. Supreme Court that it WAS a TAX! After the Supreme Court agreed with the Obama Administration that it WAS a TAX, then Obama and his White House aides tried to claim again it was only a fee. Who is voting to support the lies? Not Dold, THANK GOD!

Mr. Dold was very much against the stimulus, until he was for it.....
WASHINGTON -- An ardent opponent of the federal stimulus plan showed up Monday in Winnetka, Ill., to smile and cut the ribbon at a ceremony unveiling a local project funded by that very stimulus.

"Originally built in the 1940s, the [train] station not only got a facelift but three heated platform warming shelters, two new elevators and a new pedestrian bridge to allow commuters to wait in the station and then quickly cross over the tracks to the Chicago-bound platform," Winnetka-Glencoe Patch reported Tuesday morning.

Ellie, interesting reading in the LA Times about healthcare systems in other countries. In Japan, they run you through assembly machine style, and the doctor sees you but for a minute before moving on to the next patient. Has to see so many patients a day to make a profit. That is where we are heading. Next time you hear a Democrat proclaim that healthcare is "free" run for the hills. The 21 tax increases that come with this "free" healthcare the rest of us are paying for will be just the tip of the iceberg. And wasn't it Nancy Pelosi who famously said we can read this bill AFTER they pass it? No wonder!
