Highland Park's Newest Gelato Place Opens Friday
Like sweets? Then head to 617 Central at 1:30 today.
Highland Park will welcome its newest gelato place Friday afternoon when the city's Chamber of Commerce holds a ribbon cutting ceremony at Frost Gelato at 617 Central Avenue.
Patch's Ed Brill was at the Frost Thursday night for its open house and will delve into the place's story in next week's column. In the meantime, here's what you need to know about the city's newest dessert place:
- The gelato is made fresh daily in their store.
- All of the ingredients (aside from milk and sugar) are imported from Italy. Same goes for the equipment and display cases.
- It's basically across the street from Dairy Queen and isn't too far from Arriva Dolce as well as Marla's Sweet Bites and Turtle's, the two cupcake places that opened in Highland Park ealier this year. This city is becoming quite the place to be if you've got a sweet tooth, as Ed Brill pointed out not too long ago. Hey, it's good to have options, right?

It would be better if equipment was made in the US and ingredients were local!

The jet fuel used to ship the ingredients from Italy is probably made in USA!

I am happy any retailer is willing to take a chance on HP in this economy. Looking forward to checking our their menu. Hope they offer cold weather alternatives & can hold their own as we approach Winter.

Will check them out tonight. Hopefully they have Lemone:) Really do not care where their equipment and ingredients are from as long as they offer quality, fair pricing and good service. Good to see any new businesses taking a chance in this economy! The winter months could be a challenge although with DQ and Port Clinton Square they should rock it in season. Benvenuto!
