Highland Park Teen is World Jr. Figure Skating Silver Medalist

Congratulations to Highland Park skater Jason Brown, who placed second earning a silver medal at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Milan, Italy.

Jason Brown, 18, of Highland Park, began skating at age 3 and a half because his older sister Jordan skated, according to his bio on the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships website.

Fifteen years later, Brown has a silver medal to show for his efforts, having finished second at the championship event, held in Milan, Italy Feb. 28-March 3.

Brown’s routine to “Liebestraum” by Franz Liszt earned a season's best of 154.09 points and won the Free Skating portion. Overall the 18-year-old moved up to second at 224.15 points to add the silver medal to his bronze from 2012

For the first time in ISU World Junior Championships, it was a clean sweep for the U.S. junior men as Brown's teammate Joshua Farris won the gold and Shotari Omori won the bronze.

Brown, a member of the Skokie Valley Skating Club, trains in Highland Park and Northbrook and is coached by Kori Ade, Rob Peal and Rohene Ward, according to the Lake County News-Sun.

In January, Brown placed 8th overall at the U.S. Nationals in Omaha, Neb., reported Patch.
