Hundreds Turn Out for Highland Park Fashion Show
Models showcase clothing available from downtown merchants.
Over 300 people crowded into a tent in Port Clinton Square on Sept. 22 for Fashion Show-Highland Park 2011, a professionally produced fashion show that showcased clothing available at downtown Highland Park stores.
Sponsored by the Downtown Highland Park Alliance and produced by Zzazz Productions, the event showcased clothing from a variety of downtown Highland Park merchants, including Bett's, Posh, E Street Denim and Saks Fifth Avenue.
"It was great for retailers," said North Shore Public Relations President Tony Schor. "It's really for them."
In addition to professional models, energetic music and an announcer narrating the show, the event included a special walk from Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering.
"I ended up buying it," Rotering said of the outfit she sported for the event. "I'm going to wear it to the next City Council meeting."
Susan Gerber, a co-owner of My Best Friend's Closet, was pleased with the turnout and the event itself.
"It was perfect," she said, "Now you really see all the places to shop."
Gerber was also pleased with the applause her store's wardrobes received from the show's audience.
"People are already calling the store," she said, "Everything showed amazing."
