Man Facing Fine, Possible Jail Time for Laughing too Loud
From the weird files: A Long Island, New York, man's laugh has irritated his neighbor so much that police were called and the offender now faces $500 in fines or a month in jail.
Music blaring from a party after midnight. A dog barking incessantly at all hours. A car constantly blocking access to your mailbox.
These are some of the incidents in which an annoyed neighbor who's had it up to here might call police, but who tries to bust someone for laughing too loud?
Resident Robert Schiavelli, 42, is facing $500 in fines or one month in jail after his neighbor complained to police that his laughter was disturbing the peace—and the cops agreed.
The complaint is the reported result of a dispute between Schiavelli and his neighbor Daniel O’Hanian after Schiavelli began a home remodeling project, reported TODAY.
Schiavelli's family contends the neighbor started it by mocking Schiavelli for having a neurological disorder, though police warned Schiavelli about his behavior after observing him creating a disturbance, reported TODAY.
