New Dog Park Opens in Highland Park
Permits can be bought at Heller Nature Reserve.
The following information comes from the Park District of Highland Park.
Located at Larry Fink Memorial Park, the Park District's new dog park is open year round, dawn to dusk.
There are two fenced areas, one for larger dogs, and one for smaller dogs. Permits are required and can be purchased at Heller Nature Center.
Other dog parks in Highland Park include:
Locations:
Moraine Beach
The Moraine Beach season begins April 1 and is open through late November.
Highland Park Golf Learning Center
This is the winter site and is available November through March.
*The fenced dog exercise areas are the ONLY Park District locations that dogs are allowed off-leash. A picture permit card is required to be allowed entrance into any of these off-leash areas. We want all of our guests to have fun and be safe; rules and regulations will be strictly enforced. Dog owner cooperation and compliance is the key to the success of this program.

This is actually the first dog park in Highland Park. The other is a dog beach, which remained difficult for handicapped citizens to access. Now we have a beautiful park for the 4000 dogs we have in our city.

We in Deerfield have a nice little dog park, open to the public for free. 140.00 for non highland park residents is crazy expensive. And they don't even offer day passes. Highland Park's dog park is not very friendly to their neighboring communities.
