The information below comes from the City of Highland Park.
The Ravinia Business District (RBD) streetscape design and branding study is now underway, with efforts being led by a team comprised of Hitchcock Design Group, Nicholas Associates and Strand Associates.
The study is necessary to determine the costs of long‐term streetscape improvements for the stretch of Roger Williams Avenue between Green Bay Road and Judson Avenue.
Also included in the comprehensive analysis is a utility adequacy study that will determine the need for future underground improvements. These efforts build on prior actions regarding the RBD, including the establishment of a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District in 2005 and the completion of a market study in 2010. The project team has begun working with an Advisory Committee comprised of local business and property owners, and representatives from the City Council, Park District, Ravinia Festival, Ravinia Neighbors Association, Chamber of Commerce, and Business and Economic Development Commission, to advance preliminary design and branding ideas.
It is anticipated that draft concepts will be presented to the public for input at an open house in October, the date and location of which will be announced soon. Residents are also invited to provide input by participating in an online survey.
