I have known Alyssa Knobel as friend and colleague for several years and I believe she would be an excellent addition to our city council. Many have praised Alyssa’s extensive volunteer work supporting children and families within our community, and she is well deserving of that praise. I want to call attention, though, to her considerable professional talents which have helped to make her a valuable asset to our business community and me personally.
A seasoned marketing and advertising professional with a bachelors’ degree in Communication from Boston University, Alyssa has already put her considerable professional talent in many different volunteer capacities for our city. Alyssa chairs the City’s Business and Economic Development Commission (BEDC), serves on the executive board member of the Highland Park Downtown Alliance, and sits on the Ravinia Business District Alliance Advisory Committee and the Briergate Business Association District Committee. Alyssa’s professional experience and background in communications and marketing have helped to bring a new focus on communication to these groups. She has helped me personally in this regard as well. Her work has resulted in the development of a BEDC newsletter which helps citizens and businesses in Highland Park understand what is happening in each of our nine diverse business districts. The newsletter has provided an excellent opportunity for businesses to gain a broad picture of the Highland Park Business climate, and promotes synergy and development opportunities. She has also helped to foster and grow these organizations' presence on social media, which provides a valuable marketing resource for our businesses, and offers local citizens up-to-date information on sales, promotions, and ways to make the most out of the dollars they spend locally.
Alyssa's business sense and marketing experience have helped her find creative ways to support our business community in a tough economic environment. As our current vacancy rate inHighalnd Park hovers around an admirable 93%, I believe these efforts are working.
An energetic mother, enthusiastic supporter of Highland Park, and active volunteer, Alyssa will make an excellent member of our city council. Her communications background, focus on consensus building, and approachable style makes her an ideal candidate. I hope you will join me in voting for Alyssa on April 9.

Why I don't support her.
1. BEDC has done a poor job. walk down 2nd street and see the results of her great work.
2. Enough of the BFF of Nancy. How about some diverse views not just friends of Nancy.
3. She is a crude person. At Nancy's victory party she gave a speech that left me speechless. She is the female version of Rahm Emanual.
4. I'm sure she supports Nancy's successful effort , by a 4-3 vote, to increase taxes.
5. What has the new mayor and her pals done in the last couple of years? A lot of talk but no results. Lots of committees studying issues but nothing gets done. HP Theatre, biz development comes to mind.
6. Let's get some doers not talkers to run the city.

Daniel... Since I openly put my credibility on the line for Alyssa I think that if you are going to respond in such a negative fashion you do it openly and let the public know who you are so they can evaluate the credibility of the source. It's easy to take an anonymous shot at someone without having to back it up. Who are you?????

Quite frankly CE. Frank, the name really doesn't matter. What matters is the content and the reason for election seasons is to offer information (which you have done) and then debate your opponents and ask questions (which Daniel has done). Even though your name is spelled out, we don't know you any more than Daniel No Last Name so again we look at content. If you don't want debate, don't write your opinion in a public forum otherwise, suck it up and just answer the questions.

No Steve you are wrong. What is your full name? Coward. And his name is Chuck E. Cheese not Frank or hotdog or whatever.

Everything I said was true. All that matters in my book. Don't need to make it personal.

Seems to me you're a coward hiding behind your anonymity. Are you afraid to say who you are? Why???? Come out from behind the curtain. I'm not going to debate what you say, just take personal responsibility for it.

get over it, i spoke the truth and don't need you and your vindictive pals after me. Why don't you call Alsyssa and have her respond. You protest too much. The truth hurts, you dont want to know the truth.

Nothing to get over. I'm willing to stand behind my endorsement and any criticism it might bring. Alyssa is in my view very capable and would be a great Councilperson and wonderful for Highland Park. You're a coward. If you can't take the criticism don't make the comments. Why are you really hiding? If it's true you should be proud to put your name behind it and stand up for your beliefs.

Stop with your name calling it really hurts. Lets meet. How about the Corner Bakery or Stash's, maybe Saks or the Cupcake shops or the 7 Eleven or Java Love or the M restaurant or the Panera.. Then you can tell me where you got that 93% occupancy number and whether Alyssa asked you and/or wrote your endorsement and the others on patch. What a great job the BEDC has done.
Be careful, though, don't park in the underground prot clinton garage heard its dangerous and don't walk by the shuttered HP Theatre, somthing might be falling from the building.

Hey Charles, instead of whining about Daniel not giving his name why don't you answer some of his concerns? I couldn't care less about who he is but if he is making baseless accusations, then address them. You haven't refuted one thing he's said. I'd like to hear your response.

Huh? Tell me your full name or don't post anymore. As to the numbers being correct you remind me of the state farm commercial about everything on the internet has to be true. Tell u what, Ill contribute $1000 to Alyssa's campaign , put a sign in my yard and where a campaign button if the occupancy rate in HP for commercial business is 93%.

From the City Web Site Artie-- available space in the CBD. Got a feeling that is more than 7% and that's only available space reported to the city.

I re-read Chuck's comments. He said the VACANCY rate in HP is an "admirable 93%". Maybe he is right.

The current mayor is jsut the opposite of Belsky. Talks a good game but does nothing. Business atmosphere is horrible in so many ways that we have to raise taxes to make up for lost tax revenue. She can't solve any of the major issues like the HP theater although she has studied the issue for two years and has received an unworkable proposal for the property. Hey Mayor, why don't you see if Alyssa can get Belsky to buy the property and redevelop it. That way its off the books and back on the tax roll. And Mr. Belsky can do all the wonderful things he wanted to do with the property with his own money. Then you can all have a party at Nancy's house and Alyssa and Mike can swear at each other.
