Calling all artists! The City of Highland Park Cultural Arts Commission and The Art Center will sponsor the Art is Alive in Highland Park art contest, to be judged on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at The Art Center in Highland Park, located at 1957 Sheridan Road. “The goal of the Art is Alive in Highland Park contest is to allow community members to kick their creativity into high gear, make great art and have fun. For many folks, this will be their first art contest and we hope to make it a great experience.” says Steve Zacharias, the contest chairperson and member of the Highland Park Cultural Arts Commission.
To enter, all you have to do is bring a finished artwork to The Art Center for judging on December 8th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The contest is open to Highland Park residents and students attending Highland Park schools. A jury of arts professionals will determine six finalists in each category and of those finalists, there will be one winner chosen. Prize ribbons will be awarded to the winners and finalists by Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering. The winners and finalists will be featured in the Highlander newsletter, and the selected works of art will be displayed at The Art Center in January 2012. In the 2011 contest there were more than 100 submitted artworks.
Submitted art can be in all forms, from drawing and painting, ceramics, sculpture, to mixed media. Submittals will be accepted only on Saturday, December 8th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Artists may submit only one work of art for judging
