In the past year, I have advocated on behalf of special needs kids at Park District Meetings, the City Council and the School Board. In all cases, my pain was deeply felt by those in charge but I did not make an impact and services were cut.
I am not giving up.
This Tuesday I am attending the first meeting of the Human Services Task Force.
Although my gut says, don't take the time off work...that I'd be better off trying to feed my child by putting in the hours at the office than attending another heart felt meeting, I will be there and I hope you will too.
Here is the information:
All residents and human service organizations are invited to participate in the first phase of our Human Services Task Force program by attending one of two needs assessment meetings at the West Ridge Center, 636 Ridge Road. Choose between two dates to attend:
- Tuesday, April 24 8:30-10:30 a.m.
- Saturday April 28 10:00 - noon.
Please join me. I'll be the one wearing my heart on my sleeve.

Thanks for getting the word out Jill. You must have done a good job because it was a packed house at West Ridge for the first meeting. I ditto your words of encouragement for others to attend the next meeting on Saturday, April 28th 10:00 - noon. This is an admirable effort on behalf of our Mayor and I am proud to be part of a community that values all it's citizens. And for the record - I did not notice your heart anywhere on your sleeve - but your comments were quite constructive.
