Strange Carisms

I went out to run some errands this afternoon, and driving to my destination enjoyed the nice skys and weather.  But once I arrived, things took a strange turn because I was unable to turn off the vehicle ignition!

The lock had seized up, you could move it to the start position, but couldn't turn it off.  I've been driving for about 30 years and have never had this problem before.

Fortunately I had someone who was able to watch my running vehicle while I took care of the errand, and then headed back home where I pulled the main fuse on the vehicle and disconnected the battery.

I tried a few more tricks to try and release the key - but alas no luck.  It turns out that there's a recall on this particular rare issue, so the car will get towed to the dealer and it'll be back in action in a day or two.

If you have a 2010 Chevy HHR - check with your dealer before you have this problem.  And just in case you run into any weird situations where you can't shut the car off, it might be worth familarizing yourself with the location of the main fuses...

Happy motoring!
