Wind Energy's Dirty Little Secret

As a person who cares about the environment, it's appalling to read articles like this one: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/aug/6/wind-energy-tax-credits-fund-bird-murder/

Most Americans - and Congress in particular - don't recognize the downside of supposedly "green" energy alternatives. Are the lobbyists in Washington so strong that our congressional representatives kow-tow to their demands?

Perhaps there is a way for the average citizen (read taxpayer) to reach out to Congress besides the emails we send. (BTW - Those emails are typically tallied by staffers and never read by our representatives.)

Maybe the Patch editors around the country could pick up on stories like this and the comments that usually are made. I know the more conscientious local elected officials read Patch commentaries, maybe our elected officials at the federal level might too.

I find it interesting that people who read the HP/DF Patch can continually comment on the recent attempted burglary in HP, but no one commented about this blog. Looking at the long-term effects, I think this issue is much more important. One can't do much about the alledged burglars, but you can do something about this issue. It's easier to get involved with poor legislation by letting your representatives know how you feel.
