 ion\, as Rabbi Shapiro explores the meaning of Judaism&rsquo\;s mission 
 statement\, succinctly summed up below:\nWhen asked to articulate the en
 tirety of Torah while standing on one foot Rabbi Hillel said\, &ldquo\;W
 hat is hateful to you do not do to another. This is the whole of the Tor
 ah\; all the rest is commentary. Now go and study it.&rdquo\; (Tractate 
 Shabbat 32a).\n&ldquo\;This is the mission statement of the Jewish peopl
 e\,&rdquo\; writes Rabbi Shapiro. &ldquo\;I take Hillel literally. The e
 ntire Torah\, the entirety of Judaism\, is a guide to compassion when we
  read and live it as such. Our goal isn't to conquer or convert\, but to
  bless and bring blessings to the entire world\, every family of every s
 pecies.&rdquo\;&nbsp\;\nHis insightful presentations at Lakeside Congreg

 ro received rabbinic ordination from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Ins
 titute of Religion\, and holds a Ph.D. in Judaic studies from Union Grad
 uate School. A prolific\, award-winning author\, poet\, essayist\, and e
 ducator\, Rabbi Shapiro&rsquo\;s liturgical writings are used in worship
  services across America. His poems and essays have been anthologized in
  over a dozen volumes\, including &ldquo\;The Angelic Way: Angels Throug
 h the Ages and Their Meaning for Us.&rdquo\; He also directs the One Riv
