There’s no better way to spend time with family than camping. All you need are sleeping bags, personal gear and a dinner for your family to enjoy. You may bring your own tent or borrow one of ours. Heller staff will provide the rest: a grill for cooking dinner, games, hikes, activities, stories, a campfire, s’mores and breakfast. *Fee is per family of four or less, $10/additional family member. Online registration ends two calendar days before each campout. Min/Max: 5/8 families (Max:32 people).
Celebrate the National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Backyard Campout. Be part of this great day as families around the country head outside to camp.

More About Heller Nature Center
Heller Nature Center is a nature preserve in north western Highland Park complete with trails, a nature center with museum and several features throughout the site such as a pond, bonfire circle and bird habitat. The center offers a piece of wild Illinois that is not otherwise available in the area. Heller is also available for meetings, birthday parties and other events. Park Rangers are happy to talk about the land and explain the exhibits or answer any questions about the center.
