(Highland Park, IL, November 18, 2011) – In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, one of Highland Park’s go-to footwear retailers, ShoeFly, has stepped into the hearts of the community by asking customers to participate in their Soles For Souls initiative. From now throughout December, ShoeFly is asking customers to bring in gently-worn shoes and boots for donation to Lake County Haven and the White Elephant Resale Shop at Chicago’s Children’s Memorial Hospital. All customers who contribute to the efforts will receive a generous discount to be applied toward the purchase of new footwear. According to ShoeFly owner Ollie Galam, the loads of footwear that have already been collected since the initiative began in October are a barometer for the philanthropic nature of the community. “We are not only grateful to our customers for their loyalty in patronizing our store, but also for their support of the various philanthropic efforts we offer throughout the year,” states Galam. “The amount of shoes we’ve collected so far is truly a testimony to the type of community we’re in.” Customer Shannon Flynn’s recent donation represents the philosophy echoed by many who have already donated, “Though it’s nice to get a discount, it really felt great to be able to give to such an important cause and help those who are less fortunate.” In 2010, Galam purchased and remodeled ShoeFly not only because he saw there was a niche for a chic shoe boutique that offers footwear paired with personal attention, but also because of his commitment to the community and his desire to ensure the success of the downtown Highland Park retail district. “I didn’t want another retail store to leave this area, and I knew that I could offer a unique shopping experience paired with an unmatched inventory of affordable footwear – the kind of styles that make a statement about the wearer,” said Galam. Additionally, as owner of Avant For Men, a store a few doors down from ShoeFly, Galam is quick to acknowledge the importance of offering exceptional customer service. “I’ve been fortunate to retain the highly-respected talents of my sales associate Mickey Shapiro, who brings 57 years of shoe industry experience to his customers. He’s a local legend in the shoe industry.” Galam stays in touch with his growing circle of fashion-forward customers’ needs via a monthly newsletter called the ShoeFly Buzz E-Club that provides exclusive "e-only" offers, plus updates on the store’s sales, events and new arrivals. “Our customers really appreciate our efforts to bring them the latest trends in classic, everyday and special occasion shoes and accessories. Although it’s always gratifying to know that we’ve built a growing loyal customer base, what’s truly rewarding is that it’s within a community that cares.” To learn more about ShoeFly visit http://shoeflyhp.com, call 847-433-9910 or stop in at 599 Elm Place in Highland Park.
