Another Central Avenue Business Closes

Watches by Stanley moved out of longtime location Oct. 16. Rose's bakery continues to prepare its new space.

A sixth downtown Highland Park business closed its doors in October as Watches by Stanley moved out of its longtime location at 464 Central Avenue Oct. 16, according to Kim Cohen, the owner of Highland Pop next door.

Cohen saw the shop owners, who sold and repaired clocks and watches, packing their belongings Oct. 16. “They said the rent was too high,” she said. It was about to be raised with a renewal of the lease. They elected to leave instead.

At the same time and a few doors to the west, Rose’s bakery was continuing to build out its new space. It will be opening by Thanksgiving.
