Ravinia Celebrates a Milestone

Ravinia Music Festival begins its celebration on Monday night of the 25th anniversary of its Steans Music Institute.
To celebrate the milestone anniversary, Ravinia has commissioned Jake Heggie, Aaron Jay Kernis, Ramsey Lewis, David Ludwig, Stephen Paulus, Roberto Sierra and Augusta Read Thomas to each contribute to what Welz Kauffman calls a “new RSMI songbook.”
The seven songs will all receive their world premieres on a $10 BGH Classics concert on Aug. 12 followed by a party open to the public. Tickets: $10/ Ticket & Dining Package $40/ Park opens at 7 p.m.
