Readers Demand Mariano’s Replace Dominick’s

A number of people in Deerfield and Highland Park are disappointed Dominick’s will be leaving Bannockburn Green but they left no doubt on Patch’s Facebook pages what they want in that location.

More than 75 percent of the people who joined a discussion on Patch’s Highland Park and Deerfield Facebook pages want to see Mariano’s take its place. Others mentioned Trader Joe’s, Fresh Market and Caputo’s. The feelings for Mariano’s were strong.

“Mariano's without a doubt,” Shelly Castellanos wrote.

“Mariano’s for sure,” Samantha Stolberg added.

Bev Beck also wants to see Mariano’s come to the area but she hopes for some familiar faces. “I love that Dominick's,” she wrote. “The employees are wonderful people and I feel so bad for them. I would love to see Mariano's to go in and keep those employees interested in staying.”

Michelle Kuhlmn Culver is calling for action. “I highly recommend sending an email to Mariano's,” she wrote.

In her call for Fresh Market, Margaret Anthony wrote about what she will miss when Dominick’s leaves. “I've heard good things about Fresh Market, too. We need a grocery store with good, fresh produce, friendly service, and reasonable prices. That was Dominick's for me,” she wrote.
