Rain is currently forecast Thursday in Highland Park when streets all over the City will be filled during the late afternoon and early evening with children dressed in creative costumes offering to spare their neighbors a trick of some sort in exchange for candy or another Halloween treat.
So, what do you do should the forecast materialize cutting back or cancelling the annual search for sweets?
There are some practical suggestions. Any dry cleaner in town can provide the material for a makeshift poncho to go with a waterproof hat. The more creative could affix a small umbrella to the headpiece of a costume.
“Make trick or treating two days, Thursday and Friday” Gio Montenegro wrote on Highland Park Patch’s Facebook Page. “It only happens one time a year.”
“Kind of wish we could reschedule for Friday,” added Michelle Culver on Deerfield Patch’s Facebook page.
Gretchen Grade would keep the kids dry with some a different sort of treat and a movie. “Indoor pizza party with games, carving pumpkins...while watching ‘It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’, she wrote on the Deerfield Patch Facebook Page.
We welcome more suggestions. Feel free to add yours in the comments section.
