Hi-Five Sports Clubs Hosts Free Kinder-Club Classes and Meet & Greet at New Facility

Hi-Five Sports Clubs will be hosting a Kinder-Club “Meet & Greet” on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 3rd and 4th at Hi-Five Sports Zone, its new facility in Highland Park (1660 Old Skokie Road). This free event is open to all boys and girls entering Pre-K or Kindergarten in the fall of 2014 and will run from 12 noon to 3 pm both days. Lunch, compliments of The Kitchen Chicks, will be provided for everyone who attends.

“Our Kinder-Club enrichment program is among our most popular,” says Danny Tuchman, program director of Hi-Five Sports Clubs, which offers youth classes and leagues throughout the North Shore. “The 3-hour class is offered two times each day during the school year – in the morning and in the afternoon – to accommodate half day kindergarten schedules,” he adds. “Our meet and greet will give parents an opportunity to meet our staff and to see our new facility, while giving the kids a chance to experience a Kinder-Club class for themselves.  It’s going to be a lot of fun!”

Kinder-Club is designed around age-appropriate team sports and other physical activities, helping young children build confidence and self-esteem. “Our sports activities encourage hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and social interaction, while stressing the importance of teamwork,” explains Tuchman, whose father Marvin Tuchman founded Hi-Five Sports Camp 24 years ago when he realized there was a need for a sports focused camp on the North Shore.

“Our Hi-Five staff is comprised of professional coaches and college athletes with years of experience working with young children in a team sports environment,” continues Danny who supervises Kinder-Club. “Our program was created by P.E. teachers with the same philosophy as we have,” he adds. “We believe in teaching young children the fundamentals of sports in a fun, non-competitive environment. That’s what Kinder-Club is all about.”

The Kinder-Club “Meet & Greet” kicks off at 12:00 noon on June 3rd and 4th, followed by an ice breaker activity and coach introductions. Lunch is served for parents and kids at 12:30 with a round of age appropriate sports trivia. There will also be gym-class games, teach and play sessions, relay races, team building exercises, raffle prizes and giveaways. Parents are welcome to drop off their children or stay for the duration of the event. Danny and his team will be available to answer questions. The program ends at 3 pm.

“We’re looking forward to the meet and greet and sharing our Hi-Five Kinder-Club with the community,” says Tuchman. “Since we launched our new and improved Kinder-Club program this year with Paul (Coach PJ) Eagle from Glenview and Coach Jordan Perrin from Evanston, we’ve had well over 100 kids take the class and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. The kids love it, and so do our coaches!”
