“Rescue is costly”, states Co-founder of Chicagoland Lab Rescue Diane Soares and host of the festival.  “The dogs we receive must be vetted, often spayed or neutered, and evaluated for temperament all within the first few days of intake.  It is only then that we truly know the cost of rescuing that dog.  There are times when a dog needs surgery, or treatment for a condition and then the bills really pile up.  Yes, rescue is costly, but the alternative is not acceptable.  We have a responsibility to help and care for these animals”
