Midwest Young Artists Merit Jazz Combo to Perform at Highland Park Arts Month Celebration Day

(Highland Park, Illinois) October is the month in which the city of Highland Park designates annually to celebrate the arts in all their forms and genres. As a particularly art and music friendly city, one could argue that every day is a celebration of the arts in the 60035 zip code. The mayoral appointed Highland Park Arts Commission has set aside October 13th in particular to invite the public to a special exhibit jubilee at The Art Center on Sheridan Road.

Midwest Young Artists (MYA), a top rated youth music conservatory based in Highwood, is pleased to announce the inclusion of their Merit Jazz Combo once again in this year’s Arts Celebration Day. This particular combo is comprised of High School aged jazz musicians enrolled in MYA that demonstrate an exemplary level of both musical skill and dedication to their craft.

The 2013 Arts Month Celebration day is a free event that showcases some of the area’s established arts organizations and artists for the community to see, hear, and try! Visual and performing arts will be ongoing throughout The Art Center building from 1-5pm. This year’s participants include: The Midwest Young Artists Merit Jazz Combo, ARTicuLIT Reader’s Theatre, Citadel Theatre, Highland Park Strings, HPHS String Quartet, Irina Makkai Dance, North Shore School of Dance, and Short Story Theatre.
