Among those artists attending to show their work is internationally renowned glass artist Marlene Rose.  Marlene grew up in New York, discovered the art of sandcasting glass at Tulane University and is now considered the top sandcast glass artist in America.  Marlene’s works can be seen in numerous museums and galleries around the world and her sculptures are collected by fine-art collectors and Hollywood A-list celebrities alike.

For those not familiar with sandcast glass, it is a thousands-year-old metal casting technique that has been adapted for glass only relatively recently, in the 1980s. Liquid molten glass (2,000 degrees hot!) is poured into individual sand molds, each of which is destroyed after its use to create truly unique works of art.  Marlene Rose is one of the few successful women in this very physical field which has been traditionally male dominated.
