Women's League of Am Yisrael 'Latke Hamantash Debate' & Dinner an Appetizing Combination

On November 26, the Women's League of Am Yisrael (WLAY) in Northfield hosted a festive dinner for 50 attendees, complete with latkes and hamantashen, followed by a simulcast of the 67th annual University of Chicago 'Latke Hamantash Debate'.  This University of Chicago tradition brings together professors from across disciplines to discuss the merits of potato pancakes versus fruit-filled triangular cookies and advocate for their preferred holiday food.   During the evening, t-shirts commemorating the event were sold, with all proceeds from the purchase going to the 'Save A Child's Heart Foundation', an Israeli not-for-profit that performs emergency pediatric cardiac surgery for children from developing nations.  WLAY raised $130 towards this worthy cause, and close to $700 towards future Am Yisrael support and WLAY activities.     The next WLAY event will be a Passover Cooking Demonstration on Wednesday evening, March 19.
