YMCA to Welcome New Leadership at 45th Annual Meeting

The North Suburban YMCA will open its doors to the public on Wednesday, October 2 for its 45th Annual Meeting and reception. The Y will introduce new officers to its Board of Directors, honor special contributions from staff and donors, and recap the dramatic growth that has taken place since the completion of renovations in 2012. The reception begins at 6:00pm in the Y’s lobby, 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook, with the business meeting beginning at 6:45 pm.

The new Board leaders include President Jeff Knipp; Vice Presidents Ron Bernardi, Sal Manso, and Jill Narens; Treasurer Michael Redstone; and Secretary Patricia Widmar. Retiring Board President Matthew Brennan, who has served in that role for the last two years, will be honored for his successful leadership in guiding the Y through a period where membership grew by 38% and the Y was honored by the Chamber of Commerce as Northbrook’s Small Business of the Year. “Matt’s steady hand and unfailing energy have been essential to our success during his tenure,” noted Howard Schultz, NSYMCA Executive Director/CEO. “Our new Board officers will continue this great legacy as we continue to grow.”

In addition, the Y will honor its Associate Director of Health and Wellness Marlo Leaman with the Staff “Way Above and Beyond" Award. The award recognizes Leaman’s passionate commitment to the Y and its members through her enthusiasm and professionalism. Other awards to be announced at the meeting will be a special thank you to donors and volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the Y over the last year, and recognition of staff longevity.
