Highwood Plans First Bike Rally

The information below comes from the City of Highwood.

Highwood is excited to host the first annual Bike Rally, kicking off on Sunday, June 23rd and continuing the fourth Sunday of every month through September (June 23rd, July 28th, August 25th, September 22nd). The Highwood Bike Rally will bring bikers, bike clubs, friends, and families from all over the Midwest to the North side of Highwood to gather and celebrate the joy of motorcycle riding. A party in the Fort Sheridan Metra lot (950 Sheridan Rd.) will start the season off with bold biker bites, beer, booze, Bloody Mary’s, live blues music and more!

“Ever since the Highland House on Route 41 closed, bikers in the area have been looking for a new hangout spot on Sundays,” Says Eric Falberg, Fourth Ward Alderman & Chairman of Special Events in Highwood. “We hope to provide a fun and safe haven for motorcycle enthusiasts, friends and families!”

The season’s events include a local Poker Run on July 28th where participants can hop on their bikes and grab a playing card at each checkpoint. At the end of the run, the rider with the best poker hand will be named the winner. On August 25th, the fun continues with another Poker Run through Wisconsin.

The Bike Rally will also hold a “best of bikes” show and a contest for the first ever “Highwood Biker Betty”, crowning the winner during the final event on September 22nd. This biker babe will be the queen of bikers all around Highwood. The winner will be determined upon the loudest motorcycle roars as contestants take the stage and proudly announce why they should be the first Biker Betty! The Biker Betty will represent Highwood and make appearances at all major upcoming events throughout the year, including leading the Pumpkin Fest Parade with the Garlic Queen.

The monthly Bike Rally will lay the foundation for the launch of the new not-for-profit organization for abused women, Margaret’s House, which will be announced as the beneficiary at the kick-off event. This organization was started by Chuck Knesley, owner of Chief’s Pub in Lake Forest, as well as a motorcycle enthusiast. Chuck’s efforts were instrumental in developing the first annual Highwood Bike Rally, which will help raise awareness and money to build the first safe house for women.
