Highland Park High School students hung on every word that Jason Brown had to say during a Q&A session with the Olympic figure skating star.

Junior Sam Brief put Brown in the hot seat on stage and skillfully interviewed him on his Olympic experience.

The audience laughed when Brown’s microphone didn’t work as he tried to answer Brief’s first question on reactions to the community’s outpouring of support during his Olympic run. They finally settled for passing the working mic back and forth between them.

Brown said he felt relaxed standing backstage with the band until he came on stage to a standing ovation and the band was running through the aisles.

“It’s so much more than I ever expected,” Brown said. “I’m so lucky to be here and so lucky to be from this town.”
