Koto Music, Storytelling Highlight Fundraiser for Japan

Activities abound at Saturday's disaster relief event at the public library.

The Highland Park Emergency Relief Task Force held a Saturday afternoon at the  to raise funds for disaster relief in Japan.

The event raised $760 and offered a variety of activities to learn about the culture of Japan, including live music and storytelling.

Councilwoman attended the event with   , who is currently serving on the City Council. Both helped organize the event on Saturday, along with District 112 school board member-elect Yumi Ross, who even arranged for a Skype call via the Internet with her mother, who was in Tokyo when the March 11 earthquake devastated Japan.
