Did Highwood Break the Jack-O-Lantern Record?

Downtown Highwood was packed with thousands of guests this weekend as the town held . The city has strived for the past several years to break Boston's record of carving and lighting 30,000 jack-o-lanterns.

Speaking to guests Saturday evening just before the pumpkins were lit, Alderman and event organizer stated he believed they had reached their goal. Although a final tally will not be realeased until later this week, with an estimate of , Pumpkinfest officials seem pretty sure they have exceeded the mark. Judges from the Guiness Book will make the final decision.

Carving pumpkins is not the only fun to be had at the celebration. Guests could also enjoy live music, food and drinks, a farmer's market, and much more. New this year were a number of kid-friendly attractions, including a petting zoo, pony rides, and a small carnival.

"It's not a typical event. It's not just an art or food festival, it's everything," said Falberg, one of the organizers of the event. "It's a fun event and people want to be part of it."
