Want to Watch 'Toy Story 3' From A Pool?

You can this Saturday at Hidden Creek AquaPark.

The Park District of Highland Park will combine two favorite summer activities -- swimming and movie-watching -- at their “Flick n’ Float” event Saturday, August 13.

Families are invited to at 8:15 p.m. to drift in the pool and while watching the popular animated Pixar film Toy Story 3.

Nick Meo, Manager of Hidden Creek AquaPark, said the pool has a 1000-person capacity, and there will be more than enough room for guests of all ages to comfortably enjoy the film.

“This is a fun event because it’s a different venue to watch a movie,” Meo said. “It’s a nice summer night for a family.”

A screen will be erected by the deep end of the AquaPark pool. Guests will have the option of lying or sitting on floatation devices in the water or reclining in chairs on the pool deck.

Meo said the pool originally held movie screenings more frequently, but due to logistics, it has become a rare event.

“It’s hard for the weather to cooperate, so we just do it once a year now,” Meo said.

If it rains Saturday night, the event will be canceled.

Toy Story 3 is rated G. Attendees will be asked for a $5 donation; all proceeds will benefit the local S.M.I.L.E. foundation.
