CHICAGO MUSICIAN COLLABORATES WITH NATIONAL RECORDING ARTIST CISCO ADLER TO BRING SONG “PULASKI DAY” TO THE MASSES

HIGHWOOD, IL (MARCH 2012) – Chicagoans recognize the first Monday of March as more than the hopeful end of winter, as it marks the celebration of Pulaski Day. As a Chicago born and raised musician, Kidd Russell, who’s performed with the likes of  The Roots, Shwayze, Common, The Flobots, Uncle Kracker, Modsun and more, has celebrated Pulaski Day year after year with friends. Now, after teaming up with nationally recognized artist Cisco Adler of Shwayze, his single, Pulaski Day drops March 2 in time for the holiday.

“It’s a feel good anthem for not only Chicago, but everyone looking beyond winter and into the spring and summer,” says Kidd Russell, who co-wrote the song with Cisco Adler. “Essentially, we were singing about partying like St. Paddy’s Day, then I mentioned Pulaski Day parties I grew up going to, a holiday Cisco had never heard of. Once I explained our Chicago-wide day off, he loved it and we built the song from there.”

The soon to be Chicago Pulaksi Day theme song’s chorus is as follows: “Twist the cap and tap the bottle, sitting in Miami with a supermodel. I love NY and I love LA but I wish I was in Chicago.” Often referred to as the Alt/Rock version of Kid Cudi, Russell’s sound is similar to 311, Shwayze,  Kid Rock and Eminem. No matter what your musical taste, Kidd Russell’s Pulaski Day is guaranteed to have you nodding your head to the beat and lyrics as it flows.

Dropping March 2, Pulaski Day will be available to the masses via the song’s record label, Cisco Adler’s bananabeat records.  Phone calls with R&B Artists Brandy and Ray J’s mom/manager Sonja Norwood lead him to working with Adler and the rest is history. While Russell has remained an independent artist working with other local music insiders such as David Turvey of Bolingbrook’s Garage Light Films,  and Deerfield’s Ross Golan writer signed to Warner Chappell, the opportunity to drop a song via a nationally recognized and established label run by industry veteran and now friend Cisco Adler has been a musician’s dream come true. “I’ve worked hard my entire career to build my following and while I continue it, it’s also nice to be recognized and supported by one of my musical idols.”

Additionally, on March 5 (Pulaski Day) the song’s video will be featured on the front page of VEVO.com, the #1 music platform on the web. “This opportunity will expand our reach into the millions, and could potentially re-write the path of my career.” Russell looks forward to playing the song for the first time LIVE in front of a Chicago audience on March 6 at Reggie’s Rock Club.

Although Russell performs nationwide, and has organically built a following by working hard and making connections, his home base has always been Chicago. He’s an independent artist who’s experienced the success of MTV2 & MTV Jams air play and over 2 million youtube views to support his songs. In addition to his career as a musician, Russell also hosts classes at NOVA HP (Novahp.org) in Highland Park, a diverse, youth driven facility dedicated to promoting personal growth through artistic expression, community leadership and exchange of ideas. Through Nova, Russell offers courses teaching teenagers how to navigate the music industry by offering sessions on song writing, booking shows, marketing, learning to play live and more. “I’ve been through it all, so being able to educate younger generations on the ins and outs of the business is what continues to drive my quest for success. It makes everything worth it!”
