THE ROCK & ROLL ARTS ACADEMY ANNOUNCES WINNERS IN “Name That Sculpture” and COOLEST KID ON THE NORTH SHORE Contests!

HIGHLAND PARK, IL (JANUARY 2012) –After a successful Open House that coincided with Downtown Highland Park’s “Rock –Stroll- Shop Sheridan Road” event, that offered ice sculptures, special discounts and two jamming contests, The Rock & Roll Arts Academy, is pleased to announce the winners of the Rock & Roll inspired Ice Sculpture “Name That Tune” contest as well as The Coolest Kid on the North Shore, Bailey Hara.

Kids were encouraged to enter the Coolest Kid on the North Shore contest by recording a quick video clip singing their favorite song. Bailey Hara of Highland Park chose “Love Story” by Taylor Swift and ROCKED it! Bailey won the title of Coolest Kid and was awarded a free Rock & Roll party at the Academy.

Additionally, throughout the weekend, Rock & Roll Arts Academy awarded prizes everywhere from “Best Air Guitar” to winners of “Freeze Dance” contests. Below are the winners of 15 amazing prize packages from local merchants. These gift baskets consisted of gift cards from Sunflower, Antiquaire, Vibe at 1935, Yummy Bowl, Menchie’s, and Norton’s, as well as free workouts from Strength Time, shirts from Baird & Warner and Norton’s, and a free cleaning, exam, and x-rays from Dr. Boshe’s practice. Additionally, the grand prize winner of a Squire SA-100 full size acoustic guitar with case, picks, strings and instruction booklet went to Lawrence Keller, with the (what song?)

“We had so much fun rocking all weekend and spreading the music love throughout town,” says Mindy Hester, owner, Rock & Roll Arts Academy. “Community participation was awesome and we’re still on a high! Thanks to the high volume of folks coming into our Academy, we’ve added more classes to our schedule to accommodate all newbies that signed up to rock out more in 2012!” 


ABOUT THE ROCK & ROLL ARTS ACADEMY
The Rock & Roll Arts Academy is a fun early childhood music program. Classes are designed for children aged as young as 4 months old to 5 years old, but adult counterparts will also love learning about the diverse music and its culture. Owner Mindy Hester encourages a fun and laid-back learning experience. She is an award-winning kid’s rock performer and educator, and has taught and performed for over 12 years, starting her career at the prestigious Old Town School of Folk Music. Hester is the lead in “kindie” rock band Mindy Hester & The Time Outs, who have won two Best Song Awards at the Kid’s Music Awards for their hit songs, “Welcome to the Jungle Gym” and “Monster in the Closet” off their latest album, “Juice Box Hero”!

The Rock & Roll Arts Academy is located in Highland Park, Illinois at 1991 Sheridan Road, on the lower level of the Highland Park Community House.  According to Hester, “It’s never to soon to introduce music into children’s lives!”

Class ages range from 4 months to 13 years.
