For Highland Park Actress, ‘House of Cards’ Role a ‘Dream Come True’

House of Cards fans have likely been drawn into the evolving story line of Rachel Posner, the call girl who gets inadvertently swept up in political intrigue.

The actress who plays her, Highland Park native Rachel Brosnahan, was only supposed to be in two episodes of the first series, according to a profile of her in the Chicago Tribune. But the show’s creator thought she did such a great job that he decided to write a bigger part for her.

Brosnahan, 23, got serious about acting while performing in musicals at Northwood Junior High School, the article says, and she booked her first movie role while at Highland Park High School.
