Join Me In Learning Why Alyssa Knobel Will Make A Great HP City Councilman

April's local elections will be here before we know it. Join me in learning why Alyssa Knobel will be a terrific addition to our HP City Council.

While January may seem a little early to be talking about our April elections, it's just that I can't contain my enthusiasm for Highland Park City Council candidate Alyssa Knobel.  Why? Because of the enthusiasm Alyssa brings to everything she does -- especially the countless volunteer activities I and others have been involved in with her. Whether it's helping to raise funds for the Lutz preschool by starting a Holiday Fair that continues today, conducting admissions interviews with HPHS students as a Boston University Alumni Admissions volunteer, or helping kids less financially fortunate than our own to attend overnight summer camp through her involvement with SCOPE (see her in action this Monday at the Park District's MLK Day of Service), Alyssa is passionate about helping!

My admiration for Alyssa continues through her dedication to improving the vitality of our city through her volunteer work as the Chair of the Business & Economic Development Commission (BEDC) and her involvement in the Ravinia and Briargate Business Districts as well.  And it's also because of her willingness, without hesitation, to seek answers to the questions that we, her many friends and neighbors, regularly come to her with regarding our community. And while Alyssa may not always have the answer, she knows how to find the person who does!

Finally, Alyssa's broad working knowledge of our city,  along with her desire to listen, learn and take action, will allow her to hit the ground running and make her an excellent addition to our fine City Council. I invite you over the next few months to learn more about Alyssa's qualifications  (www.friendsofalyssaknobel.com and www.facebook.com/alyssaknobelforcitycouncil ) and by April I know you will be as enthusiastic as I am in supporting and voting for Alyssa Knobel for Highland Park City Council!

Alyssa Knobel, two thumbs up a good old fashion hard working gal. Most of these candidates smile tell you they agree with you and not a dam thing gets done. Now when Alyssa tells you something she makes it happen. So my vote goes the person who gets things done with a smile.

Given the false information she gave about Panera moving to HP maybe she is not so great. Just a friend of the mayor so we have a stacked council.

The City's volunteer Business and Economic Commission, nor Alyssa are directly related to businesses coming and going. No one is that powerful but the property owners and the stale economy. False info about Panera? What do you call this post on the City's website? The City is looking for feedback about PANERA by THIS WEDNESDAY...go ahead and tell them you want Panera or not but don't make up stories.....we all know property owners call the shots, not the city or volunteers http://www.cityhpil.com/index.aspx?nid=573.

Do a Patch search. When Cornery Bakery closed she is quoted as saying Panera had leased space on 2nd Street. You are correct, property owners call the shots. That's why she should be accurate about what she says,

Alyssa was not quoted as saying that. I did a Patch search (like you suggested) and found this article: http://highlandpark.patch.com/articles/what-should-replace-the-central-avenue-corner-bakery. Jacob reported "And perhaps it won't be a restaurant. The city recently announced a Panera would be opening nearby, across the street from Michael's. Panera's menu offers an assortment of sandwiches, soups, salads and coffee similar to what Corner Bakery offered." I don't see a quote from Alyssa saying anything about Panera.
