Passing the Gavel at the Highland Park Community Foundation

The Highland Park Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Walter Nathan has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors.

As the new Chairman, Nathan states, “My goal is to continue the mission of the HP Community Foundation in meeting the unmet needs of our community.” Nathan has been a board member of the Foundation for seven years, previously serving as Treasurer and Vice-Chairman. He is also President of Blue Ribbon Fastener Company of Skokie, IL.

Nathan assumes the role of Chairman following the four-year term of Andrew Livingston. During Livingston’s tenure as Chairman, the Foundation’s grant giving grew from 24 grants totaling $115,000 in 2009 to 29 grants totaling over $150,000 in 2013. In addition, the Foundation created the Highland Park Golden Apple Award for outstanding teachers in the community, and administered the City of Highland Park’s Haiti Relief Fund following their devastating earthquake.

The Foundation is also pleased to announce that Peter Flanzer will assume the position of Vice-Chairman.
