The Lakeside Singers Play to a Sold-Out House

If you only go to one holiday concert this season, here's the one group you should consider.

Last night a friend took me to the Lakeside Singers' holiday concert in the Nichols Hall at the Music Institute of Chicago in Evanston. What a glorious evening of magnificent music! The first half of the program included acapella and piano accompanied pieces and the second half more contemporary music with instruments and included an audience-paritciaption singalong.

The group of 24 professional singers was formed in 1999. Half of the singers have performing experience in classical choral music and the other half in non-classical styles. Individually, they have performed in TV and radio commercials, opera, film scores, Broadway shows, jazz shows, on cruise ships, in caberets, and in classical choral recordings and concerts across the country.
