Downtown Highland Park Gears up for Holiday Event

Real reindeer, real gingerbread and maybe even real snow will greet shoppers at the second annual Shhhhhh…opping Highland Park, which starts Friday.

The unseasonable warmth we've been experiencing is not going to stop downtown Highland Park from celebrating the holiday season this Friday and Saturday, even if that means taking over some of mother nature's responsibilities.

To help make it feel more like winter, Shhhhhh…opping Highland Park organizers are handling the snow themselves, from a company that makes snow for film productions (though there is a chance real snow may be in the forecast as well).

In addition to the snow, the event will include live reindeer, holiday carolers, fire roasted chestnuts, French crepes, hot cider and fresh popcorn.

"Shhhhhh…opping Highland Park is made up of retailers that want to raise awareness of the uniqueness and exclusiveness of Downtown Highland Park’s boutique shopping experience through on-going creative events and promotions," according to a release about the event.
