2ND STREET BISTRO OFFERS EXCLUSIVE VALENTINE’S DAY MENU TASTING

BYOB - with no corkage fee - makes for a romanic and economic night out!

HIGHLAND PARK, IL (FEBRUARY 14, 2012) – 2nd Street Bistro is this year’s hot spot for a romantic and economic Valentine’s Day Dinner! Recognized as the North Shore’s only BYOB restaurant, (with no corkage fee),  featuring local, sustainable and organic menu options, the Bistro is offering an exclusive Valentine’s Day Tasting Menu. With a cozy, inviting atmosphere, along with fresh innovative food, 2nd Street Bistro will surely warm everyone’s heart through their bellies! 

“After a phenomenal response to the New Years Eve Tasting Menu, we wanted to create a decadant dinner package for Valentine’s Day,” says Bobby Dubin, owner.  For $52 per person, patrons will enjoy three gourmet courses, along with a decadent dessert. The courses are as follows: 

•    First Course –  Choice of:
“Chicago Style” Steak Tartar with New Pickle Relish, Cherry Tomato-Onion Salad, and Pickled Mustard Seeds
Champagne, Caviar, Truffles, and Oyster. Poached Oyster, Sea Bean Truffle Salad, Tohiko, and Champagne Gelee
Grilled Vegetable Chopped Salad  with Warm Spicy Balsamic Vinaigrette
•    Second Course – Choice of:
Shredded Maple Leaf Farms Duck Confit, Braised Rapini, Door County Cherries, Hazelnuts, & Mint
Truffled White Asparagus Bisque, Shaved Asaparagus Salad.
Seared Jumbo Scallops, Pasrnip Puree, Fennel Slaw, Basil Pesto.
Seared La Belle Foie Gras “Banana Cream Pie” ($15 supplement)
•    Third Course  - Choice of:
Sous Vide New York Strip, Kabooca Squash Puree, Broccoli Rabe, Red Onion Marmalade, Coffee Veal Reduction
Seared Scottish Salmon, Baby Arugula, Ginger-Carrot Slaw, Peppered Pineapple Sauce
Spicy Ketchup Lacquered Chicken Meatloaf, Mustard Greens, Peas, Carrots, BBQ Consomme
Mushrooms 3 Ways: Pureed, Pickled, or Roasted. Puff Pastry, Herb Salad
•    Dessert – Choice of:
Pretzel Bread Pudding with Salted Caramel
Red Wine Poached Aujou Pears, Champagne Sabayou
Warm Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Warm Berry Compote.
Chocolate Creamaux, Whipped Cream, Caramelized Bananas with Pretzel Dust

Owner Bobby Dubin and wife, Debbie, started in the restaurant business in 1985, with the opening of Glenview restaurant Gusto Italiano. Since then, the Dubins have created a large following on the North Shore. They have also owned and operated Highland Park staple, Stash’s, and are not finished with taking over Highland Park’s Second Street! 2nd Street Enoteca, a BYOB wine bar, is coming to the block Feburary of 2012.  

2nd Street Bistro is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 pm to 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 5 pm to 10 pm. Average dinner entrees range from $12 to $19.
