Lake Forest’s Marcus Lemonis is considering a bid to buy the Portillo’s chain of 38 restaurants, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Lemonis, a self-made millionaire in the RV and camping gear business, is the star of CNBC’s “The Profit.”

Richard Portillo announced recently that he is evaluating a sale of the popular Oak Brook-based company.

Lemonis already owns a small local restaurant chain — Rose’s Wheat-Free Bakery & Café, with locations in Evanston and Highland Park. An attempt to buy another Highland Park restaurant, In the Raw, resulted in a dispute between Lemonis and the owners that ended up in court.

Lemonis Tweeted his interest in Portillo’s earlier this week. “I'm gonna throw my name in the hat on this one,” he wrote.

He added in an interview with the Tribune that Portillo’s is certainly a cheaper purchase than the L.A. Clippers.

Local hater/millionaire wannabe Forest scoffed when asked to comment on this story. "I would be a much better millionaire than him. His restaurants are crap and he has no fashion sense. Plus I can speak Russian. Can he speak Russian?"

@Walter "Anonymous thus brave" Your comments have degraded to being disgusting rants contrived in your mind. First of all I have no desire to discuss money, those that do, usually do not have much. Secondly, I made a comment a couple of years ago about his red shoes, the "Usher" look. Not derogatory but intended as humor, something you need more of:) Finally, having actually watched a couple of his shows, I am sure he does indeed speak Greek or Arabic as I believe his adoptive parents are Greek and I believe he is of Lebanese descent. Portillo's is a big play for him and out of his usual save the small business mode. If indeed he goes through with it, wish him good luck and would love to have a Portillo's closer to the hood.
