VIDEO: Shoppers Hit Deerfield Borders Looking for Sales

Deerfield location set to close come April.

One day after  filed for bankruptcy shoppers were out searching for deals.

"I was hoping there was a sale that's the only reason I'm here," said Becky Berger while visiting the Deerfield store that's set to close in April along with 200 other locations.

"It was a big surprise probably to many people not only to me," Lester Motyka said about the company's announcement this week.

According to a press release, the stores Borders has identified for closing are “a reflection of economic conditions, cost structures and viability of locations, among other factors, and not on the dedication and productivity of the workforce in these stores.”

"It's disappointing. It's disappointing because you know maybe Barnes and Noble will be next and there won't be any big bookstores anymore. " Berger added.
