Contratulation to Isaac and Moishe Nava and their entire family for making the top ten list twice. Whatever you think abut their food and ambiance, they all are hard working and strive to make their customers' dining experiences enjoyable. BTW - Their 1st Street restaurant has some of the best value breakfasts in town. Breajfasts are served until 3 pm. Try the homemade blintzes. Heavenly!

Totally agree with Bluegrass & Norton's!!! Love them both!

Big miss - City Park Grill! Food and service are always great! All price points and huge variety of food choices available in this kid friendly eating spot run by superb restaurant people! Add the nice atmosphere and it's hard to beat. Great place for parties too and the noise doesn't blow you away! Run don't walk!!!

I would trade Lou Malnati's for Moccio's, and Park City Grill I agree was missed. The only one I haven't had is Abagails, but I think Players grill in HP is always a winner. Fresh fish, ribs, chicken, pastas, salads, all at reasonable prices. Best kept secret, they deliver almost anywhere.

Sorry, City Park Grill. I had to fix that before you guys had a field day on me:)

Bluegrass hands down. They've always had a new and different item on the menu. They treat you like family, too!
Vivian Kramer March 26, 2013 at 07:49 PM
Definitely, City park Grill should be on that list! Also, I would put Country Kitchen over Walker Bros, and what about Tamales?
Stacey March 26, 2013 at 08:49 PM
I love City Park Grill, Sushi Badaya and I agree with Viv! Country Kitchen over Walker Brothers!
Kim March 26, 2013 at 08:52 PM
Phoenicia should be on the list!

City Park grill wins hands down in my book for the best all-around rkestayrant in.HP! Could easily eat there every night and order something different! BBQ sauce good enough to drink!

This whole list is invalidated by the omission of Benjamin's
Donna March 27, 2013 at 02:24 AM
Love that there are so many great choices in highland park
Redhead March 27, 2013 at 05:05 AM
You're right - Benjamin is also a favorite but we tend to eat there with friends on weekends as it is more pricey......

Cafe Central, Nortons and Yummy Bowl would be our three first restaurants, not only food is delicious but the service is great also.
Pam Carlson March 27, 2013 at 01:21 PM
Real Urban Bar-B-Q!!!! Some of the best barbecue outside of Texas...love it!
Barbara Mendelson March 27, 2013 at 07:23 PM
Where;s one of my favorite's, City Park Grill ? The Lou Malnati in HP is NOT a restaurant.

Admittedly, Highland Park is fortunate to be graced with lots of good (great) restaurants which appeal to many diverse tastes. Therefore, it's a difficult, if not impossible, task to fit them all into a list of only 10. I've eaten at all of them listed here and enjoyed them all to various degrees. That said, I feel that Abigail's very much deserves the top spot! Since its opening almost 4 years ago, I have never ever experienced any menu item that didn't speak volumes to my taste buds...from the opening (dinner only) cheese biscuits to the glorious soups, on to the award-winning burger and ending with the chocolate peanut butter mousse tart and, of course, everything in between! If you haven't yet been there, you MUST give them a go! It's busy, busy, busy just about anytime you go so I suggest around 2:00 P.M. for lunch and between 5 and 6 P.M. for dinner. However, it's well worth the wait at any time. Bon appetit!

What about NY slices. Bobby "we deal" Dubin now does his catering out of their. They cut the store in half and with Dubin they should be the best pizza on second street.
Daniel March 27, 2013 at 07:57 PM
They are closed until April. Not doing well financially, food is overpriced.
MH March 27, 2013 at 11:53 PM
Bluegrass food is excellent. They have wonderful drinks too and a gentleman of a bartender. Koya is very good also, stop after work once in awhile. * I think people are getting the borders of HP & Highwood confused. What do you think?
Samantha March 28, 2013 at 05:53 PM
Not true about the menu being so pricey. The new menu has many items that are budget-friendly. The "farm to fork" entrees are fresh, creative and so plentiful. The burgers (beef, seafood or vegetable) are so delicious and huge - they actually serve it with a steak knife coming out of the top bun! The ambience is warm and comfortable. Benjamin is a "jewel" in the North Shore.
MM March 29, 2013 at 02:02 AM
Tamales has to be on the list. And Real Urban Barbecue as well. I don't even know what a Koya is! Food might be good at Abigail's but it is so loud in there you have to text those with whom you are dining if you want to exchange thoughts while eating.
Marci March 29, 2013 at 08:33 PM
I agree. I am a fan of City Park Grill! Love their horseradish encrusted salmon!!
forest barbieri March 30, 2013 at 05:45 AM
We are indeed fortunate to have several great places to eat within our little community. RUB certainly deserves some mention and in terms of popularity, Sushi Kushi ranks high with our kids. Congrats to all on the list!

I agree with you. Hard working family, great product.
