“We’ve taken the traditional tomato soup and made it heart healthy and delicious, replacing the cream base with a vegetable puree,” explains Joey Morelli, culinary creator and one of Max’s owners.  “Our customers don’t even notice the difference, except to say how great it tastes.”

Morelli has taken his years of expertise and infused Max’s soup menu with updated flavors and essence.  The restaurant prides itself on its homemade soups made daily from scratch, with no MSG, serving up a variety of soups each day with some good old fashion standbys.

“The most famous soup on earth, chicken noodle soup, seems to also be the soup most messed up,” states Morelli, who is a connoisseur of the Jewish-style chicken soup. “We make a clear and simple chicken broth with bones, use traditional skinny egg noodles and top it with big chunks of chicken, carrot and celery. You can’t mess with a classic!”

Whether for soup’s medicinal value, soul-warming on a winter day, or for some healthy revisions of old favorites, Max’s Delicatessen & Restaurant offers soups that are good for the body and the soul. The “Soup Forecast” menu features daily specials including Navy bean, lentil, vegetable beef, split pea and mushroom barley, in addition to its everyday offerings of old fashioned chicken soup with choice of matzo ball, kreplach, noodles, rice or kasha, sweet and sour cabbage soup, “no cream” tomato soup, cream of wild mushroom soup and French onion soup crock.

The perfect meal for family or a nice surprise to share with a friend, soup’s always on at Max’s!  Max’s soups are also available by the quart to go for $3.95.
