JUF Hires Jessica Leving as Public Relations Manager

Jessica Leving, of Highland Park, has been appointed Public Relations Manager for the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.

Leving will work throughout JUF/Federation’s array of public outreach, from electronic communication to events, to ensure effective institutional branding for both external and internal audiences. She also will be responsible for cultivating media relationships, arranging coverage of select events and programs, and creating integrated marketing communications materials.

“This organization does amazing work, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to share that with people,” said Leving. “I am very excited to be joining the JUF team.”

Leving comes to JUF/Federation with a background in journalism, marketing, event planning and informal Jewish education.

She is a recent graduate of BBYO’s Professional Development Institute, which provides fully funded masters of business administration degrees through Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, and she also has a certificate in Informal Jewish Education from Hebrew College in Boston.

While participating in the BBYO program, Leving worked as the group’s Great Midwest Region Program Director, based in Northbrook. She also worked for BBYO in Nashville, Tenn., and as a Teen Director and Assistant Camp Director for the Gordon Jewish Community Center there.

Prior to BBYO, Leving was a marketing intern for the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children, and held reporting internships at USA Today and The Jerusalem Post. Leving also has written for The Boston Globe, The Common Review, Global Traveler magazine, and various other publications.

Leving holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Boston University, and is a graduate of Highland Park High School.
