Olympic Competitors

In response to the 100:1 level of requests for more information about firearms vs. those who have had enough, here is yet another detailed listing.

The SIG 230 and Hi Standard Olympic are pistols designed for olympic and rapid-fire competition, but also suitable for in-home ranges and occasionally still used in intelligence work.

In .22s, the noise level is very low, firing rate can be very rapid (5/second), but accuracy is not as good as the .22lr guns.

The Hi Standard Olympic offered is a left handed gun, and is the ISU model.  This is derived from the Hi Standard that produced olympic wins, but differs with a barrel-end muzzle brake, and barrel vents.

The original muzzle brake system, which vented upwards, significantly worsened accuracy, and was dropped by most manufacturers for .22 guns.

The P230 is the more accurate of the two guns, using a GSP-like internal intertia block.  The Hi Standard uses an external one.  Trigger pull on both is adjustable.

The P230 grip does not adjust, and is designed for tight fit to the hand.

Two slightly different P230 are available, but only one of the Hi Standard guns.
